Paris Christmas markets open their chalets from mid-November 2026. First, the big market in the Tuileries Garden starts on 14 November. Then the Champs-Élysées market makes its comeback on 22 November, after almost ten years away. Meanwhile, the City of Paris lists the capital’s markets until 3 January 2027. Here are the confirmed dates, the locations and our tips for planning your visit.
When do Paris Christmas markets open in 2026?
To begin with, the City of Paris (the Mairie, or city council) has published its 2026 Christmas market calendar, updated on 29 October. It covers the period from Monday 2 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. In addition, entry to the markets is free, the city says.
However, each market follows its own schedule. Some run for six weeks, while others last only a weekend. So check the dates for each location before you travel.
Dates of the main markets
- Tuileries Garden (1st arrondissement, or district): 14 November 2026 to 3 January 2027;
- Avenue des Champs-Élysées (8th): 22 November 2026 to 4 January 2027;
- Square René-Viviani, opposite Notre-Dame (5th): 26 November to 27 December 2026;
- Gare de l’Est forecourt, Alsace market (10th): 2 to 18 December 2026;
- Carreau du Temple, Klin d’œil designers’ market (3rd): 12 and 13 December 2026.
Note that the Tuileries, Notre-Dame, Gare de l’Est and Carreau du Temple dates come from the listings of Sortir à Paris, a Paris events guide. By contrast, the Champs-Élysées dates appear on the City of Paris website.

The Champs-Élysées market is back
This is indeed the big news of the year. According to the City of Paris listing, the market returns to the avenue after nearly ten years. The city describes it as « a night-time Christmas market ». It will run from Sunday 22 November 2026 to Monday 4 January 2027.
Sortir à Paris also mentions around 200 chalets in the gardens along the avenue. However, the city has not yet published opening hours. We will therefore add them as soon as they are announced.
What is there at the Tuileries market?
The Tuileries market sits between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. In practice, it combines food chalets and funfair rides, from thrill rides to merry-go-rounds for small children. Entry is free; rides and food, on the other hand, must be paid for.
To get there, the easiest option is the metro to Tuileries (line 1) or Concorde (lines 1, 8 and 12). The 2026 opening hours are still to be confirmed. As a guide, the market stayed open until late evening at previous editions.

Which other Paris Christmas markets are worth a visit?
Beyond the big sites, several smaller events complete the programme:
- the Notre-Dame market in Square René-Viviani, popular for its view of the cathedral;
- the Alsace market outside the Gare de l’Est station, showcasing food from the Alsace region;
- the Salon Idées Japon at the Bastille Design Center, from 20 to 22 November, with free entry;
- the Maison du Danemark on the Champs-Élysées, from 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.
Two markets are still unconfirmed for 2026: Saint-Germain-des-Prés, announced from 27 November to 6 January, and the Christmas village at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, planned from 5 December to 3 January. Wait for official confirmation before planning a visit.
Finally, just outside Paris, the La Défense market is also worth the trip. See our guide to its dates and opening hours.
Our tips for enjoying Paris Christmas markets
December weekends are very busy. So, where possible, go on a weekday evening or in the morning. Public transport is also the simplest option, because parking in central Paris is scarce and expensive.
If you are travelling with children, bear in mind that French school holidays run over Christmas and New Year, so crowds grow at that time. For other cities, see our French Christmas markets calendar.
