Riquewihr Christmas market 2026: dates, opening hours, parking and shuttles

The Riquewihr Christmas market opens on Friday 27 November 2026 and runs every day until Sunday 20 December in the village’s historic centre. Entry is free. At weekends, a park-and-ride in neighbouring Hunawihr, at €10 per car with the shuttle included, saves you hunting for a space. Every year, many people look up the dates of the Riquewihr Christmas market well before Advent. That makes sense, because this village on the Alsace Wine Route, in the Haut-Rhin département (roughly a county) of north-eastern France, draws many visitors in December, and its streets are narrow. It is therefore worth checking opening hours and parking options before you set off. All the information below comes from the official Christmas in Colmar and its region website, accessed on 4 November 2026.

When is the Riquewihr Christmas market in 2026?

First, the market opens on Friday 27 November 2026, from 10am to 8pm. It then runs every day from Saturday 28 November to Sunday 20 December 2026. It is organised by the Comité des Fêtes de Riquewihr, the village’s festivities committee.

Monday to Friday: 10am to 6.30pm;
Saturday and Sunday: 10am to 7pm;
Location: the historic centre, around 2 rue de la Première-Armée, 68340 Riquewihr;
Entry: free.

Where can you park during Advent?

Parking is indeed the main thing to plan for. According to the tourist office’s practical page, the easiest weekend option is the Naturoparc park-and-ride in Hunawihr, the next village.

Naturoparc park-and-ride (Hunawihr): 220 spaces, €10 per vehicle, shuttle included;
Open on: 28 and 29 November, 5 and 6, 12 and 13, 19 and 20 December 2026;
Shuttle to the village: every 30 minutes, 9.45am to 6.30pm, on Saturdays and Sundays;
Spaces for people with reduced mobility: place Jean-Monnet.

However, the park-and-ride is not available on weekdays. So it is best to aim for quieter times, for example early in the morning.

Where can motorhomes stay?

Football stadium, route des Vins: 32 spaces, from 27 November to 20 December; €15 for the day (9am-7pm), €25 for a day and night, €10 for a half day (1pm-7pm);
Camping de Riquewihr: 89 spaces, from 27 November to 2 January 2027, from €27.50 for two people;
Avenue Jacques-Preiss: 15 spaces all year round; €20 from 9am to 7pm and €10 for the night (7pm-9am).

Can you take a shuttle from Colmar?

Yes. In fact, it is often the most convenient option for visitors arriving by train. The Christmas shuttles run from 27 November to 20 December 2026, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.

Line 1: Colmar, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé, then Colmar;
Line 2: Colmar, Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, then Colmar;
Frequency: hourly on Fridays, every 30 minutes at weekends;
Fare: €17 per person per day, unlimited travel; free for children under 12.

As a result, the same ticket lets you combine Riquewihr with the medieval market in Ribeauvillé, open on two December weekends, or with the Kaysersberg market.

Tips for a successful visit

First, choose a weekday if you can: the market opens every day, whereas the crowds mostly come at weekends. Next, wear good shoes for the cobbles. Finally, if you are staying in the area, book early, because accommodation is in high demand during Advent all along the Wine Route.
